Monthly Board Meeting Announcement


The Advantages of Southeast Arkansas, Inc.  Board of Directors meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m., at the Discovery Childrens Center, located at 178 W. College, Monticello, AR.

 The meetings for 2017 are scheduled as follows:

Meetings may be cancelled without notice; however, if the meeting is rescheduled for another day during the month, an announcement will be made on local media.  Special called meetings will also be announced on local media outlets.

 All interested parties are welcome to attend board meetings.  Persons wishing to address the board must register with Mrs. Deanna Doherty, Director, prior to the meeting so that they may appear on the agenda.


Appreciation Section

Shaun Wilson and Verna Wilson came to read stories about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to the students at DCC-Monticello Friday, January 13th.





Discovery Children’s Center in Crossett honored several of our hometown hero’s on Veterans Day.  We had several representing the National Guard, Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Thank you for your service and dedication and for answering the call of duty.


Thank you to Crossett Rehabilitation and Health for bringing treat bags to Discovery Children’s Center.

Oct 3-7 was Food Service Week.  Our 4-5 yr old class celebrated and made our staff a poster.  A big Thank You to Diane Johnson, Pam Gibbs and Christopher Williams!

Handbook for Parents Individuals with Disabilities Education Act


 The Agency will be celebrating National Ice Cream month on Payday, Wednesday July 1.  As you come in to pick up paychecks you and your consumer can celebrate with us.  We will be passing out ice cream to all staff and consumers that come in that day.  For those of you who are diabetic, we will be serving you sugar free!

Special Announcements

Advantages of Southeast Arkansas is seeking donations for used wheelchairs. You can drop them off at 168 West College Street. Advantages would like to thank you for your donation.


The Agency is seeking volunteers to work with the Consumer Council.  The Council is comprised of adult consumers served by the Agency.  The purpose of the Council is to provide consumers an outlet for submitting suggestions for volunteer activities, field trips,fundraisers, parties and service improvements.  The Council Board conducts the meeting, with volunteers acting as facilitators.

The Agency is seeking volunteers to share their talent with our consumers, such as art, music, dance, cooking or other crafts.  The Agency will coordinate with the volunteer on a schedule or, the activity may be a one-time event.

The Agency is seeking employees to assist with the current wreath fundraising activity and to serve on the committee.

The Agency is seeking employees to volunteer to assist with the planning and hosting of the annual consumer Prom.

The Agency is seeking donations of used Prom dresses size 10 and up.
